JOSHUA SHANE FLORES

Joshua Shane Flores was born and raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico. His love of art began at a young age, taking inspiration from the beauty and organic quality of nature as well as the hard angles and complexity of the synthetic world.  He graduated from New Mexico State University in 2014 with a Bachelors of Fine Art in Painting; he is currently enrolled as a Masters of Fine Art candidate at NMSU. He has a connection with the community of contemporary artists and has exhibited and made work for public locations.

 

He works in a variety of mediums, including oil paint, drawing, but he enjoys printmaking as well. Recently he has begun expanding and incorporating sculptural qualities into his work.  He is constantly trying to find balance between the abstract and representational, compulsive and controlled, surreal and real. The final product of his artistic endeavors possesses dark overtones, but has undertones of sensuality and beauty that helps his work to create a dialogue of repulsion and attraction.
